About Us

The United Hmong of Massachusetts, Inc., formerly known as the Hmong-Lao Foundation, was founded to help immigrant families adjust to life in the United States.  United Hmong Of Massachusetts emerged out of a pursuit to provide support for one another, have a safe place to belong, and create a sense of community.  Established in 1982, we’re a long standing organization driven by a strong foundation of support. Our purpose is to promote, advocate, and improve the overall quality of life for Hmong people living in the State of Massachusetts.

Who We Are

Our Roots

Here at United Hmong Of Massachusetts, we know from experience that a little support goes a long way. Since our founding in 1982, we have made an impact on many lives. The core of our efforts was to provide resources and help immigrant families adjust to life in the United States. Four decades later, our focus has shifted a bit.  We are aiming to serve as a means of outreach and hub of information for those in our community. We want to make sure everyone has access to all resources and opportunities for better quality of life. We are dedicated to supporting the social, educational, and cultural needs of the communities we support, while being committed to preserving our culture, language, and the rich history of our heritage.  Our hope is to create a sense of pride, civic conscience, and good will among the Hmong.  Through all of our endeavors we hope to display the conviction behind our beliefs.

About: Who We Are

Our Leaders
Past & Present

40 Years Strong

In a blink of an eye, 40 years have passed by. Sometimes we take things for granted. We don't realize how much our lives are shaped by the elders and those who have served in our community. Those who helped our parents and helped each other when they didn’t know how to help themselves in a new world. Those who fought for a place for us in America, those who made sure everyone had something to call community, and a safe place to belong. Most importantly, they are ones who made sure their kids grew up to have a better life than they did. Not just everyone who served, but as a whole, our elders have taught us all the value of family, the meaning of community, the gift of selflessness, how to love one another, and passed on a culture rich in traditions to preserve. There really is no place in the world where you can find a community like ours.  And we are still here, 40 years strong.
