A group of students at Fitchburg High School eagerly came together to represent their Hmong heritage. In total, fifteen students came to school dressed or prepared to be dressed during the school day on Friday, April 29th. Jade Vue, a junior this year at FHS, took charge to gather as many Hmong students as she could to participate in the mini photoshoot. These students understood the assignment - they came dressed to impress. The ladies showed off the many beautiful styles of Hmong clothes. The gentlemen either rocked brightly colored two-piece suits or traditional vests embellished with coins. This certainly was an honor for our students to be recognized as we approach the start of Asian American Heritage Month. Mekhi Souryyavongsa, also a junior, arrived to school decked out in traditional attire. Mekhi's sister Iaykah Souryyavongsa and cousins Kahmiley Louangsabouth and Kayla Yang opted to wait to put their ensembles together at the school. Mekhi expressed "It felt really good to get dressed up. It's been two years since we've celebrated our new year. I really miss it."
